About the role:

We are looking for our first dedicated Marketing Automation Specialist to develop and execute our marketing automation strategy across our marketing tech stack. From email and workflow development to progressive profiling, lead scoring, and on-site personalization, your technical and operational expertise will enable the rapid expansion of Coherent’s global demand generation program.

The ideal candidate will bring three core competencies to the table: marketing automation proficiency, email development (HTML/CSS), and data analysis. You’ve contributed to fast-moving marketing automation programs before and are ready to get in at the ground level of a high-growth, high impact SaaS company focused on building pipeline and revenue. While your starting tech stack will primarily center around HubSpot and WordPress, you’re comfortable evaluating and diving into new systems as Coherent’s marketing needs expand.

Now you may be wondering what your day-to-day will look like. You will...

  • Develop our approach to marketing automation from the ground up using HubSpot as your foundation—whether the focus is prospect or customer lifecycle marketing, you own the channel are responsible for its timely success
  • Build, load, QA, and schedule all marketing emails, from one-off sends to automated drips; work with the creative team to expand our brand’s design system as it applies to email
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow our global database of emailable contacts, following all relevant regional requirements (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL, etc.)
  • Partner with Revenue Operations, Inside Sales, Demand Gen, and others to improve email deliverability and define organizational SOPs pertaining to email governance
  • Partner with Revenue Operations to ensure leads are correctly and efficiently routed to appropriate teams internally, using tools like HubSpot’s Lead Scoring to improve quality and quantity
  • Work alongside Demand Gen and external web development partners to support landing page development as needed using our drag-and-drop content management system (currently WordPress) and key HubSpot features (forms, CTAs, Smart Content, chat, etc.)
  • Build and configure workflows, audience segmentation, and dynamic content spanning email and web
  • Standup the reporting needed to monitor channel performance and communicate out results—from daily/weekly email health to biweekly/monthly campaign and funnel performance
  • Serve as the technical marketing champion for organization-wide data integrity and hygiene
  • Support global regional needs and roll out campaigns in different markets and align to local execution
  • Other duties as assigned by management

What skills and attributes the candidate will need to get the job done…

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with a marketing automation platform (HubSpot, Pardot, Marketo)
  • Demonstrated portfolio of relevant work in email development, landing page development, and marketing automation
  • Marketing automation platform certification from HubSpot, Pardot, Marketo, or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail; capable of serving as the most critical QA for Coherent’s email program and marketing reporting infrastructure
  • Knowledge of email and digital design best-practices
  • Practical knowledge of email/data-privacy regulations like GDPR, CASL, CAN-SPAM, the ADA, and others
  • Experience scaling marketing automation programs—we want to see how you’ve taken a program from infancy to maturity, growing your channel to meet the needs of a growing team
  • Familiarity with analytics tools like Google Analytics, Tableau, Google Data Studio, Domo, etc.
  • Unafraid of a blank canvas—comfortable stepping into an environment where much of what you’re going to be asked to do has never been done before
  • Able to balance the needs of the business, the limitations of technology, and a commitment to user experience; believe that moving fast and obsessing over details don’t have to be in conflict with one another
  • Strategic thinker – possess a strong commercial mindset and business acumen, with ability to adapt and flex according to changing business needs
  • Team player – Ability to work in a diverse environment with good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and strong stakeholder management
  • Self-starter – Ability to self-motivate with a strong sense of ownership, comfortable thinking outside of the box and developing creative solutions to meet business objectives, high level of organization and project management skills

Nice to have:

  • Prior work experience in fast growth SaaS environment
  • Prior experience supporting a marketing department with a global footprint
  • Have directly managed relationships with external contractors, vendors, and tech partners—you can showcase end-to-end ownership of these relationships
  • Proficiencies with other marketing-and-sales automation tools—the 2023 tech landscape is vast, and your ability to show how you’ve managed multiple solutions to meet the needs of your team will help you to stand out from the crowd
  • Know how to leverage martech knowledge bases, support teams, and user groups to find an answer and have done so previously
